Core Group for water quality testing
Last night marked the inaugural meeting of our Water Quality Core Group at Plas Menai, and it was a resounding success! This dedicated team is now leading efforts to monitor the water quality across the Menai Strait, with testing sites on both Ynys Môn and Gwynedd. The group will conduct tests twice a month, ensuring samples are taken at consistent times to provide accurate data. Their work will focus on pinpointing key areas of pollution, crucial for preserving the Menai Strait’s unique ecosystem.
A critical part of their work involves using specialised test kits to measure levels of phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and pH in the water. These indicators are vital for understanding the health of the Menai Strait and identifying sources of pollution. By tracking these metrics regularly, the team aims to build a comprehensive picture of water quality and take proactive steps to address any issues.
Stay tuned for updates on their findings and opportunities to get involved. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the health of the Menai Strait!
