Site Upgrades - Welsh Water
Bangor Beach Road Storage Tank
To reduce the frequency of storm overflow discharges from Bangor Beach Road Sewage Pumping Station we are building a 4300m3 storage tank which will contain flows during periods of heavy rainfall, these flows will then be returned into the sewer system when rainfall subsides and sent on for treatment at Treborth WwTW. Work is commencing February 2024 and is due to be completed March 2025. Approx £12m investment
Treborth WwTW Aerated Reedbed
To reduce the impact of discharges from Treborth WwTW on the water quality of the Menai Straits, DCWW will be installing an aerated reedbed, upgraded UV treatment and carrying out other upgrades on-site. This work will take place in AMP8 (period 2025-2030). The design is still subject to change but project cost is expected to be between £12-15m
Bethesda WwTW FPF
A capital scheme is currently in progress at Bethesda WwTW which discharges treated effluent into the Afon Ogwen. The scheme is being designed to ensure that Bethesda WwTW can treat its permitted flow rate and is not impacted by issues of hydraulic incapacity. The project is still in the design phase but will include upgrades to the site and construction is planned to commence in Sept 2024 with a likely finish date of July 2025
